THE FREE AGENCY THREAD - Flames Re-Sign Ramo, Sign Frolik

The Calgary Flames made a couple of big moves today, the more prominent of the two being the signing of big right winger Michael Frolik. The 6'2" Czech has scored 42 points in his last two consecutive seasons with the Jets and was on the 2013 Stanley Cup-winning Chicago Blackhawks.

He signed for 5 years, receiving 4.3 million each year for a total of 21.5 million.

Frolik was picked 10th overall in 2006 by the Florida Panthers. Picked right after him were the likes of Jonathan Bernier and Bryan Little. In his first two years with the Panthers, he put up his two best totals of 45 and 43 points, respectively, and he should fit in beside Sam Bennett as the Flames' second-line right winger.

Also done by Brad Treliving today was the re-signing of Karri Ramo, which seems to signal the departure of Jonas Hiller. Ramo was signed to a 1-year deal worth 3.8 million dollars.
